66 years ago today NASA launched their first space probe called Pioneer 1. October 11 must have been NASA’S lucky number; not only were Pioneer 1 launched in 1958, ten years later they also launched Apollo 7! In 1984 Kathryn D. Sullivan became the first American woman to perform a space walk and year 2000 they launched the 100th space shuttle mission! We’ve really gotten far in science, who knows what will be achieved next?
